The Project
The action entitled “Virtual and augmented reality online system for the pre-earthquake city of Zakynthos and the connection with local entrepreneurship” has been included in the Priority Axis “Strengthening regional competitiveness with the development of entrepreneurship, innovation and ICT” of the BP . “Ionian Islands” (Code 5031246). The operation is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The project is implemented by the Zakynthos Chamber of Commerce and aims to develop digital applications to highlight the cultural and natural heritage of Zakynthos.
The action is implemented through six (6) sub-projects:
-Sub-project 1: Study, Collection and Processing of information material (study and recording of historical data, collection and digitization of material, topographic mapping of the pre-earthquake city of Zakynthos, processing of the material, etc.).
-Sub-project 2: Implementation of Augmented Reality Worlds and Photorealistic Models (digital reconstruction of 1800 buildings & structural elements etc).
-Sub-project 3: Five Digital Applications: -Augmented/Virtual Reality application, which will host the virtual world of the pre-earthquake city of Zakynthos in the form of an installation package for at least one operating mobile device platform, -an interactive educational game application, -a specialized application for PWDs with playback of 3D sounds and texts – Tour application of the cultural/historical resources of Zakynthos which will network the cultural resources with the businesses of the island. The interconnection will be achieved through the recording and inclusion in the application of businesses of the intervention area, making the visitor’s tour of the city of Zakynthos attractive and offering comprehensive information to the visitor.
-Sub-project 4: Procurement of equipment
-Sub-project 5: Publicity Actions (website, logo, etc.)
-Sub-project 6: Archaeological self-supervision sub-project for the documentation and control of the texts to be produced for the archaeological sites, monuments and museums of Zakynthos, etc.
Beneficiaries: The main Beneficiary of the act is the Zakynthos Chamber of Commerce, while the Service of Newest Monuments of Technical Projects of Western Greece Peloponnese & South Ionian participates in the implementation through a sub-project of archaeological self-supervision.
